Hershel Clark, MPH

Hershel Clark, a citizen of the Navajo Nation, is a program supervisor for the Southwest Tobacco Navajo Education Prevention Program. With a Bachelor’s degree in American Indian Studies and a Masters in Public Health degree, Mr. Clark is using his skill sets to demonstrate how colonialistic approaches, including Federal Indian policies, have led to the high rates of commercial tobacco use in American Indian communities, especially in Tribal ceremonial settings and practices. Mr. Clark collaborates with Navajo traditional healers, youth, elected leaders, and elders in understanding the importance of commercial tobacco policies for the Navajo Nation.
