Clearing the Air Institute FAQs

___________________________________________________________________________

Q: When does the conference begin and end?
A: The conference kicks off on Monday evening with a Welcome Reception and will end late afternoon on Thursday, around 3:30pm ET.

Q: How do I register?
A: Registration for the 2026 conference will open in 2025.

Q: Why do I have to apply to register?
A: The Clearing the Air® Institute is designed to be a small strategic convening of approximately 200 to 225 people in a retreat-like setting where advocates, public health professionals, researchers, workers, and funders from the local, state, and national level convene to review the current landscape, challenges and opportunities, and to collectively outline a path for commercial tobacco control law and Tribal policies that provide equitable protections to all. It also helps ensure we have a fair representation of key voices across the country given the limited space, so that we have a good balance of people who are experienced in tobacco control while ensuring we include those who are new to this important work.

Q: I submitted my registration application, what’s next?
A: Registration applications are approved on a rolling basis. Once you are approved, you will receive an email with an invoice to pay for your registration.

Q: Are you offering scholarships? How do I apply?
A: Thanks in part to our generous sponsors, ANR Foundation can provide limited partial scholarships to help ensure that public health advocates in key communities are able to participate in the Institute. We offer scholarships on the basis of financial need and potential impact, with special attention to underrepresented individuals working in communities where we must close smokefree gaps. To apply for a scholarship, please indicate your need for support in your registration application.

Q: I live near the host city/can stay with family in the area. Do I need to stay at the hotel/conference location?
A: Clearing the Air® Institute has always been valued for its retreat-like feel and experience and we are developing an agenda conducive to connecting during the meeting and in post-session conversations. While your lodging is separate from registration at this conference and you are welcome to stay wherever you would like, we strongly encourage you to stay at the hotel/conference location to take full advantage of the networking opportunities of this conference.

Q: How do I book a room at the hotel/conference location? Is there a conference discount?
A: More details will be provided as the 2026 conference approaches.

Q: What does my registration fee include?
A: The registration fee includes access to all sessions, meals and snacks; free Wi-Fi in all guest and meeting rooms; Institute materials; participation at scheduled events; and follow-up materials. The fee DOES NOT include your lodging or travel cost.

*To become a member or to check the status of your ANR/F membership, please contact heidi.wohlwend@no-smoke.org.
Anyone who is a member, donor, or has Professional Access will receive the ANR/F member rate.

Q: How do I get there?
A: Information for the 2026 location will be released in 2025.
