As Director of Advocacy for the American Lung Association of the Midland States, Shelly Kiser is responsible for federal, state and local lung health and clean air advocacy campaigns in Ohio and Michigan. Ms. Kiser acted as the campaign communications director during the SmokeFreeOhio ballot campaign which successful passed the Midwest’s first strong smoke-free public places law. She was also worked on passing smoke-free laws in cities around Ohio leading up to the statewide campaign. Recently, she has worked with partners to pass model tobacco-free campus policies for public K-12 schools and public colleges and promoted Ohio’s smoke-free casinos. Ms. Kiser has worked for over twenty years in advocacy, public relations and communications for non-profit, private, and governmental organizations. Current projects include advocating for tobacco prevention funding in the state budget, implementation of tobacco-free college campuses, protecting the Clean Air Act, and supporting renewable energy standards.
